Who was Maudie
Maudie Smith was a fixture on the hat scene in Charlotte. She worked in the millinery department at Ivey’s for over 30 years. In 1948 she opened her own shop called Maudie’s Millinery in downtown Charlotte. Know for custom bridal veils and made to order hats, she ruled the at scene up to the mid 60s. Maudie passed away at the the age of 90 in 1978.
