What is a Deerstalker?

A Deerstalker is a men’s tweed cap with two visors, or brims, one in the front and one in the back. The signature hat of Sherlock Holmes, it’s one fo the most designs ever. The hats were popular in the late 1960s.  From Hatatorium:  An Essential Guide for Hat Collectors, 2nd Edition.

About Munrospun

This firm was established in 1880 as the Munro and Company by William Munro to manufacture homespun tweeds, Shetland knitwear, and fancy hosiery. The world-famous Argyle Sock was originated by this firm in 1895.The factory in Restalrig, Scotland was built in 1897. The firm pioneered knitted outerwear for women, using the finest woollen yarns. Cashmere was first introduced by them in 1902.  The New York Office was first opened in 1920, and in 1925 the firm began the manufacture of women’s ready-to-wear tweed costumes, coats, and skirts.  Around 1930 the firm began to produce Munro-spun hand knitting wools and Munro-spun ties. During the WWII the company produced over 1 million yards of cloth by Tweed Division  and 3 million knitted garments at Restalrig.  The company closed in the 1970s

Overseas orders ship International First Class.  International buyers handle all customs duties. PLEASE NOTE effective July 1, 2021, EU members are charged VAT taxes based on the specific country’s tax rates at the time of importation. 

We know you may be wary about buying vintage items. If so, we do offer returns.  After receipt of your vintage pieces, if you are unhappy or the item does not fit, please let Madge know of a return request within 10 days of receipt of merchandise and return items within 30 days after notification.
