About Limoges Jewelry

Limoges, a city in central France, has been renowned for its porcelain and enamel work since the 19th century. The company’s jewelry, particularly during the Art Nouveau period, often featured intricate enamel designs inspired by nature, mythology, and the female form.

Camille Faure (1874-1956) was a French artist for Limoges renowned for his mastery of enameling techniques. He was born in Saint-Vallier, France, and trained as a chemist. However, his passion lay in the arts, particularly enameling. Faure was highly innovative in his approach to enamel work, pioneering new techniques and styles that would become influential in the Art Nouveau movement.

Faure’s enamels were characterized by their vibrant colors, intricate designs, and meticulous attention to detail. He often collaborated with renowned artists of his time.

Mauricette Pinoteau, admitted to the workshop in 1972, run by Faure’s daughter, and learned these intricate enameling techniques.  She continues to carry on his legacy in her jewelry designs as shown in this stunning Limoges fused glass necklace.
