- Vintage 1930s carved Galalith necklace.
- A lovely tone of light orange.
- Large elaborately carved beads complement round beads.
- The size of the beads tapers smaller to the back.
- Screw-in clasp.
- Galalith is an early milk-based plastic similar to Bakelite or celluloid. Developed in 1895 by a German chemist, it can be dyed in many colors, with swirls and patterns, and hand-carved. This material went out of popular use after WWII due to the scarcity of milk.Galalith is often misdescribed as French bakelite.
