ABOUT CORO
About Coro
Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger started Coro in 1901 as a small accessories store on Broadway in New York City. The company officially changed its name to Coro Inc., a combination of the two names, in 1943. Coro was once one of the largest costume jewelry companies in the world.
Major lines included Coro, Corocraft, and Vendome. Vendome was considered the most exclusive line and featured at high-end department stores. Regular department stores carrying the main Coro lines were prohibited from carrying Vendome. A complete list of the company’s jewelry lines is available here.
Coro employed many distinctive designers including Adolph Katz, design director; Gene Verecchio; Oscar Placco; Robert Geissmann, and Massa Raimond. This 1950s Coro wide link bracelet is an excellent example of the company’s high-quality construction and attention to detail.
The company filed for bankruptcy in the late 1970s.
