Who was Louis Rousselet
Parisian jewelry Louis Rousselet (1892-1980) was known for his glass and Galalith beadwork and pearls. His business grew into one of the largest bead suppliers in the world and workers trained for years to learn his techniques. Rousselet was a true artist creating new types and innovative designs for glass beads and pearls. His work appeared in the boutiques of Coco Chanel as well as Jaques Fath and Piere Balmain. His jewelry was worn by many celebrities including movie and theater stars. Rousselet’s daughter continued on with the business which eventually closed in the 1970s. Most of his jewelry was unsigned and came with a paper tag. The components and findings are unique and recognizable. Signed pieces are very rare.
