An exquisite 1950s Yemenite brooch – pendant based on an ancient seal design.
1940s Brooch Details
- Round dome brooch with a coiled rope motif.
- Turquoise cabochons are set in the coils.
- The seals of Yemenite Jews were used to authenticate documents, letters, and official decrees. A seal would be impressed into wax or clay to signify that a document was genuine and authorized by the seal’s owner. This practice ensured the integrity of communications and legal transactions.
- The metal bale on the back turns this brooch into a pendant.
