About Oleg Cassini

Oleg Cassini was a fashion designer, best known for his work as the chief designer for Jacqueline Kennedy during the early 1960s. Born in Paris in 1913 to Russian aristocrats, Cassini studied fashion design in Europe and worked as a couturier in Rome and Paris before moving to the United States in the 1940s.

He quickly established himself as a prominent figure in the American fashion industry and was known for his elegant and sophisticated designs.

Cassini’s most famous contributions were his designs for Jacqueline Kennedy, the First Lady of the United States from 1961 to 1963. He created numerous iconic looks for her, including her signature pillbox hat and the A-line dresses she was often seen wearing. These designs helped to establish Kennedy as a fashion icon and helped to define the image of the First Lady during the early 1960s.

After Kennedy’s time in the White House, Cassini continued to work as a successful fashion designer and also pursued a career in Hollywood as a costume designer for films. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 92.
