ABOUT GOODY
Today, people know Goody as a mass-market manufacturer of hair accessories. Most don’t realize Goody Products, Inc., was established in 1907 by Henry Goodman and his son Abraham as H. Goodman & Son. selling out of a pushcart in the Lower East Side of New York City.
Over time, it evolved into a leading manufacturer of hair accessories, including barrettes and bobby pins.
In the 1920s, during the era of bobbed hairstyles, hairpins became popularly known as “bobby pins.” Companies like Goody packaged these essential accessories in colorful packaging, catering to the fashion trends of the time.
By the 1980s and 1990s, Goody was considered the premier hair accessories brand for girls and women of all ages, offering a wide range of products that included pigtail and ponytail holders, hair ribbons, and yarns.
