Simmons Sterling Bracelet Details

This elegant antique bracelet dates to the late Edwardian period, just as jewelry design began transitioning toward early Art Deco geometry. Crafted in sterling silver, it features finely pierced rectangular filigree links punctuated by four rectangular amethyst paste stones, each set within a subtle architectural frame.

The bracelet features a patented mechanical locking clasp developed during the mid-1920s, stamped “Simmons Pat Applied For.” The clasp corresponds to U.S. Patent No. 1,563,881, issued in 1925 for a secure box-style catch with lateral release tabs. This marking places the bracelet within a narrow production window during the patent application period.

Simmons Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts, the piece reflects the firm’s reputation for precision metalwork and stylish, well-engineered jewelry. The restrained geometry, openwork silver, and jewel-toned paste stones bridge Edwardian delicacy with the emerging modernism of the early 1920s.

How to Care for Vintage Jewelry

Always handle vintage jewelry gently and store it carefully between wearings. Keep each piece in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratches, tangling, or metal abrasion. Avoid contact with water, perfume, hairspray, and household cleaners, which can dull finishes or weaken settings. To clean, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away oils and dust. For metals and stones, use a mild, non-abrasive jewelry cleaner suited to the materials. Never submerge rhinestone or glued pieces in water or use ultrasonic cleaners, as moisture can damage the foil backing or loosen stones. With proper care, your vintage jewelry will retain its beauty and character for years to come.

About Art Deco

Art Deco began in Paris in the 1910s and reached full brilliance in the 1920s–30s, blending bold geometry with a fascination for modernity. Inspired by cubism, ancient Egypt, and the machine age, designers embraced strong lines, vivid enamels, and striking contrasts. Today, authentic Art Deco pieces are treasured for their crisp symmetry and the glamorous, forward-looking style that defined the era.
