About Murano Glass Beads
Lampwork beads are a type of handcrafted glass bead that’s created by melting colorful rods of glass using a torch or flame. This technique, known as “lampworking,” dates back centuries, tracing its roots to the Venetian glassmakers of Murano, Italy.
Wedding cake beads are a type of lampwork bead made famous in Venice. They are hollow beads that look like small cakes with “icing” of swirls, dots, flowers, and aventurine, which are metallic bits, usually copper, to give it a sparkle. These Murano blue glass earrings are an excellent example.
