Renoir was one of the most famous makers of copper jewelry. Founded in 1946, originally named Renoir of Hollywood, named for the company location. Afterward, the company’s marks went through several additional iterations including Renoir of California, 1948; Hand Made Renoir of California 1952-1954, and finally, just Renoir.
Later in 1952, Renoir introduced a second line of enameled copper jewelry called Matisse. In addition, the company added a sterling silver line named Sauteur. Renoir finally closed in 1964.
