Renoir was one of the most famous makers of copper jewelry. Founded in 1946, originally named Renoir of Hollywood, named for the company location. Afterward the company’s marks went through several additional iterations including Renoir of California, 1948; Hand Made Renoir of California 1952-1954, and finally just Renoir.
Later, Renoir introduced a second line of enameled copper jewelry in 1952 called Matisse. In addition, the company added a sterling silver line named Sauteur. The Renoir company finally closed in 1964.
