Vintage Dobb Kit Details
Handsome and hard to find, this soft-sided vintage eel skin dopp kit hails from the post-WWII era—likely late 1940s to early 1950s—back when “Made in Korea” still simply read “Korea.” Crafted from genuine eel skin with its telltale sheen and supple strength, it’s built for the kind of man who shaves with a brush and packs cologne in glass.
- Soft-sided construction in rich chocolate brown eel skin.
- One main compartment with interior slip pocket
- Exterior zipper pocket for easy access.
- Zipper top with sturdy side loop handle.
- Lined interior with original Phoenix label: “Korea”.

The term Dopp kit comes from Charles Doppelt, a German leather-goods maker who created the case in the early 20th century. It took off during WWII, when U.S. soldiers were issued Dopp kits for their toiletries—compact, durable, and easy to carry.
