Florenza was started by Dan Kasoff in 1948 after working in the costume jewelry business for several years. Originally he named the company after himself, then in the early 1950s renamed it after his mother Florence to make his jewelry more distinctive. Florenza specialized in lavish designs including Renaissance and Moorish designs, often in antiqued gold with sparkling stones. Florenza was known as the jeweler for elegance and grandeur. The company also had its whimsical side with delightful figurals including birds, insects, and reptiles. In addition to jewelry, the company brought their old-world designs to vanity items, pincushions, and writing pens. The company closed in the early 1980s. These pieces remain highly collectible.
