About Enzo Angiolini

Angiolini was a designer of women’s and men’s shoes in the United States and Italy, He lived in Manhattan and Florence, Italy.  He passed away in the mid-90s.  The label is owned by the Nine West Group.

Vintage vs. Modern Shoe Sizing

Vintage shoes often run smaller than modern sizes, especially those made before the 1970s. Leather can also shrink slightly over time, and most vintage shoes are narrower—even when marked as wide width. It’s common for a vintage size 8 to fit closer to a modern 7 or 7.5.

How to Check Fit

Always compare the insole length, in inches or centimeters, to the length of a pair of shoes you currently wear comfortably. The best way to check is to measure your foot from heel to toe while standing and add about ¼ inch (0.5 cm) for comfort.

Width Considerations

Vintage shoes were made in more standardized widths (AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, etc.). A “B” width was standard for women, and many vintage shoes marked as “medium” may still feel snug. If you have wider feet, consider using a shoe stretcher or a professional cobbler for slight adjustments.

Tip for Collectors and Wearers

If you plan to wear vintage shoes rather than collect them, err on the side of a half-size up from your usual size. For display or collection purposes, focus more on condition and style than size accuracy.
