A striking 1930s black straw tili hat with a confident, wide brim and beautifully restrained detailing.
1930s Tilt Hat Details
A percher with a flat crown that sits lightly on the head in true percher fashion, while a band of black French veiling wraps the brim, dotted with soft pink pom accents that add just enough contrast.Â
A black-and-pink grosgrain hatband finishes with a tailored bow at the side, a placement typical of early 1930s millinery, when hats balanced drama with practicality. The straw shows tight, even plaiting, giving the hat structure without heaviness—meant to perch, not overwhelm. Back strap keeps the tilted hat on your head.
This style pairs effortlessly with tailored coats, bias-cut dresses, or a sharp daytime suit. It’s the kind of hat that signals confidence quietly—no tilt required.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HAT SIZE
HOW TO FINDÂ YOUR HAT SIZE
- Pull a fabric tape measure or length of string around your head just slightly above the ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head.
- Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. You are measuring your head exactly where the hat will sit in either inches or centimeters.
- If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR VINTAGE HAT
Vintage Hat Care
Always handle vintage hats by the brim, not the crown. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep them in a hatbox or covered with acid-free tissue to prevent dust. Avoid using modern sprays or steam, as these can damage delicate materials and trims. For reshaping or cleaning, it’s best to consult a professional milliner experienced in vintage restoration.
