ABOUT JEAN ARLETT
Who was Jean Arlett
Jean Arlett was a British milliner who gained popularity in the 1940s and 1950s for her unique and avant-garde hat designs. She was born in 1912 in England and began her career in fashion as a dressmaker before transitioning to millinery.
Arlett’s hats were often characterized by their sculptural shapes and bold use of color and texture. She frequently incorporated non-traditional materials such as wire, felt, and leather into her designs, and was known for her whimsical and playful approach to hat-making.
Arlett’s hats were worn by many high-profile clients, including members of the British royal family, and she received numerous awards for her contributions to the fashion industry. She passed away in 1963, but her legacy continues to inspire contemporary milliners today.
Some of her notable clients were the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, and many actresses like Vivien Leigh and Zsa Zsa Gabor.

- Pull a fabric tape measure or length of string around your head just slightly above the ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head.
- Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. You are measuring your head exactly where the hat will sit in either inches or centimeters.
- If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.
