Wear it forward and confident, tilted ever so slightly to one side for a wink of attitude. 1950s navy blue straw turban doesn’t shout—it suggests.
Straw Turban Details
This 1950s navy straw turban proves that sometimes the quietest hats speak the loudest. Expertly sculpted with a squared crown and gentle curves that hug the head, it dips at the sides and rises just slightly at the back for that classic mid-century profile. A wide, flat bow at the front adds just the right amount of flourish—neither too sweet nor too bold.
- Deep navy straw with subtle sheen.
- Structured crown with rolled edges.
- Front bow detail in matching straw.
- Fully lined interior.
- Fits close to the head—ideal for cocktail wear or tailored day looks.

WHAT IS A TURBAN
About Turbans
A turban is a type of hat made from a long, draped scarf wrapped around the head, or a rigid hat with a beehive-shaped crown and no brim, which is wrapped and draped with fabric to resemble a wrapped scarf. It is interesting to note that turbans date back 5,000 years to Mesopotamia. Moreover, Paul Poiret popularized them for women in the early 1900s. The turban marked the transition from the enormous hats of the decade to the close-fitting cloche of the 1920s. After falling out of favor for a while, turbans reemerged in the late 1950s and 1960s, becoming very popular once again.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HAT SIZE
HOW TO FINDÂ YOUR HAT SIZE
- Pull a fabric tape measure or length of string around your head just slightly above the ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head.
- Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. You are measuring your head exactly where the hat will sit in either inches or centimeters.
- If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.
- Then buy a fabulous vintage hat from Madge
