1950s silk flower petal close hat, the layered silk petals feel airy and sculptural, never heavy such exquisite refinement
Silk Flower Hat Details
Lovely ethereal flower petal close hat. Built on a satin-covered frame, the design features softly layered silk petals that create movement and texture without bulk. A sheer veil floats over the crown, adding just the right amount of mystery and lightness.
Satin triangle accents peek through the floral layers, giving the hat subtle structure and a distinctly 1950s silhouette. Worn close to the head, this style was favored for afternoon parties, weddings, and formal daytime events—polished, feminine, and easy to wear.
The color palette is especially lovely: a muted dusty pink blended with soft cream tones that flatter a wide range of complexions and pair beautifully with both neutrals and pastels.

WHAT ARE CLOSE HATS
About Close Hats
A close hat is a 1950s term for a shallow-crowned brimless hat that fits close to the head, usually covering only the top portion of the crown. They originally worn square (not tilted) on the top of the crown, exposing the forehead, today they can be worn any way you like. They come in many shapes, and often have veils. Today they look equally great tilted on the head.Â

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HAT SIZE
HOW TO FINDÂ YOUR HAT SIZE
- Pull a fabric tape measure or length of string around your head just slightly above the ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head.
- Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. You are measuring your head exactly where the hat will sit in either inches or centimeters.
- If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.
- Then buy a fabulous vintage hat from Madge

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR VINTAGE HAT
Vintage Hat Care
Always handle vintage hats by the brim, not the crown. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep them in a hatbox or covered with acid-free tissue to prevent dust. Avoid using modern sprays or steam, as these can damage delicate materials and trims. For reshaping or cleaning, it’s best to consult a professional milliner experienced in vintage restoration.
