Hammered Necklace Details
- Large, round vintage 1960s pendant in concentric circles of hammered brass and copper.
- A smaller brass/copper piece on each side of the chain.
- Each circle is outlined in green polychrome paint.
- Choker-length hammered brass links in different shapes.
- Large hook clasp.
- The necklace is not signed but the matching earrings are.
- Jewelry from Casa Maya is very rare.
Who was Casa Maya
Casa Maya was a jewelry studio in Mexico City. Their artisans worked in sterling silver plus hammered brass and copper. Aimed at the tourist trade, the designs captured indigenous patterns and designs. Another separate firm also called Casa Maya was based in Taxco, Mexico.
