About Louis Rousselet

Louis Rousselet (1892-1980), a Parisian jeweler, gained fame for his glass and Galalith beadwork and pearls. His business grew to become one of the largest bead suppliers globally.  Artisans spent years learning his techniques. Rousselet, a true artist, created new types and innovative designs for glass beads and pearls.

Coco Chanel featured his work in her boutiques from 1948 to 1952. Both  Jaques Fath and Pierre Balmain also carried his jewelry. Many celebrities, including movie and theater stars, wore Rousselet’s jewelry. The business was continued by his daughter, which eventually closed in the 1970s. Most of his jewelry came with a paper tag and was unsigned. His components and findings are unique and recognizable, but signed pieces are rare.
