About Gucci
Gucci was founded in Florence, Italy, in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, who drew inspiration from the fine luggage he encountered during his time working in London. The brand started as a leather goods workshop crafting upscale saddlery and travel accessories for affluent Italian customers. By the 1950s, Gucci had established itself as a symbol of luxury, celebrated for its horsebit motif, bamboo-handle bags, and interlocking “GG” monogram. Over the decades, the house expanded into fashion, jewelry, and accessories, blending Italian craftsmanship with bold, avant-garde design. In March 2025, Georgian designer Demna Gvasalia was appointed Creative Director of Gucci, ushering in a new era of innovation while preserving the brand’s heritage of sophistication and excellence.
