Renoir was one of the most famous makers of copper jewelry. Founded in 1946, the company was originally named Renoir of Hollywood, named for where the company was located. The company’s marks went through several additional iterations including Renoir of California, 1948; Hand Made Renoir of California 1952-1954, and finally just Renoir.
A second line of enameled copper jewelry was introduced in 1952 called Matisse. About the same time, a sterling silver line was introduced called Sauteur. The company closed in 1964.
